ABOUT JESS SIA
Jess Sia is a multidisciplinary engineering simulation professional with expertise in structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics analysis, particularly for spacecraft engineering and space instrumentation. She is currently a thermal engineer at MDA Space.Jess holds a bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo, as well as a master\'s degree in electrical engineering with a collaborative specialization in planetary sciences from Western University at the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration. In addition to her academic qualifications, she has worked in the aerospace, food, automotive, and software industries.Jess\'s master\'s thesis is titled:\"Mechanical Design and Space Qualification of a Dual-Sensor Multispectral Imager for Lunar Rover Applications\". She developed a multispectral imager for use on a future Canadian lunar rover, applying her skills in mechanical design, finite element analysis, NX Space Systems Thermal, and image processing.As Chief Diversity Officer at the Mars Society of Canada, she co-organized the 2022 Montreal Space Exploration conference in collaboration with Space Concordia and the European Space Agency. Jess also served as the first non-Earth Sciences president of the Western Space Graduate Council, and as the thermal analyst and structural testing specialist for the Ukpik-1 CubeSat.The cover image is taken from Jess\'s simulated Mars mission at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, Utah.
