About Jessie Ht Ni
Jessie Hsiao-Tzu (H-T.) Ni received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and post-doctoral training in Immunology from University of Minnesota. She also has a Master of Management of Technology degree from Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Jessie owns expertise and track record in developing, commercializing and marketing cell culture and characterization reagents and tools for life science applications. Jessie spent more than 10 years in R&D Systems directing and managing the development and manufacturing of recombinant proteins, antibodies, and cell culture media. By working closely with the US National Institutes of Health, she secured the first public funding for stem cell research to establish a stem cell program in R&D Systems. Through this program in R&D Systems, Jessie led the team to develop many first to market reagents needed by stem cell scientists, e.g. the first recombinant full-length fibronectin and vitronectin molecules, the first commercially qualified antibodies to human NANOG and SOX2 (Cai et al,2005) and the improved N2 and B27 supplements for human progenitor cultures (Ni et al, 2004). These reagents helped to advance the stem cells research and application. Since joined IS in 2012, Jessie again led the R&D team to develop improved serum-free expansion media for major human adult stem cells, including mesenchymal stem/stromal cells and the first to market animal-component free and chemically-defined media for T and NK cells, for immunotherapy. Jessie also applied her years of assay development experience to build new capabilities allowing IS R&D group to perform industrial (e.g. CHO) cell culture media development and optimization in achieving specific protein quality characteristics. In 2019, Jessie joined BioLegend as the VP of R&D and continues to lead the product and service development for the basic, translational research to clinical and IVD markets.
