ABOUT JESSIE CLARK

I’m a Learning & Development professional who loves finding the right solution to a performance problem. While it\'s well known that training is often the default solution, my education and experience have taught me that it\'s not always the right solution. My passion lies in developing instruction, either e-learning or in-person, but I also know that change management, communication, the implementation of certain programs, and many other solutions are necessary to solve performance problems. I most recently worked at Scentsy as a training specialist, conducting new hire training for the customer service team, facilitating orientation for all employees, working on e-learning projects in Articulate360, and managing various learning and development programs. I\'m currently working toward my Master of Science in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning (OPWL) at Boise State, so I\'m also formally learning about instructional design and human performance improvement (I have work samples from my program pinned to my LinkedIn featured section). I also have some background in recruiting and restaurant management. Throughout my experience managing restaurants, I realized I have a passion for people, and I knew I had to go into HR. My restaurant management experience gave me exposure to people management, business functions, and ignited my passion for learning and development. There are some extremely valuable intangible lessons learned from working in food service. I wholeheartedly believe my experiences in restaurant management give me a unique perspective that serves me well to this day and allows me to grasp concepts about adult learning in a way that I don\'t think I would be able to without that experience. Outside of work, I like to lift weights. I strive to learn more about marginalized communities and the ways I can use my privilege to support those communities. I love cats, Taylor Swift, and plants. I also have a passion for reading, so send me your book recommendations! If you like some of the same things I do, or if you want to talk about ID or HPI, let’s connect! Feel free to send me a message here :)
