About Jessica Hight

I grew up in challenging circumstances that taught me responsibility and resilience from an early age. By the time I was a teenager, I had to learn how to navigate life independently, and those experiences shaped my commitment to building a better future for myself and others. Mental health has been an important part of my journey. I’ve faced challenges like anxiety and depression, and I share these experiences openly because I believe reducing stigma and encouraging honest conversations is key to building healthier communities. Today, I’m a Public Policy student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a full-ride scholarship. At UNC, I serve as a Research Assistant, where I contribute to policy analysis on topics including AI, education, and racial equity. I also work at Walmart, where I continue to strengthen my leadership, communication, and customer service skills. My long-term goal is to help create policies and programs that expand opportunity, break harmful cycles, and ensure that every young person has the chance to thrive.

   I lead efforts to reduce abortion stigma and promote reproductive rights through storytelling and community engagement. I organize events and campaigns aimed at expanding access to reproductive health care on campus and in the broader community. This role allows me to combine my passion for advocacy, education, and health equity to make a meaningful impact.
