About Jessica Sarkes

I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at NJIT interested in both the space & defense industry and the construction/program management path. I’m especially drawn to roles where I can be involved in real projects, work across teams, and see how things come together from start to finish.In Summer 2025, I interned at L3Harris Technologies under the Aerojet Rocketdyne / ARDE segment. I supported program management by preparing pricing summaries, helping develop early cost estimates, and organizing NDAs to keep projects moving. I also worked with different teams on project planning and coordination, which gave me a better understanding of how engineering and business sides connect in an aerospace environment.In February 2026, I accepted an internship with Terminal Construction Corporation as an Office/Field Engineer Intern. I process and track submittals and transmittals, support project documentation, and assist with day-to-day operations. This role has given me hands-on exposure to how construction projects are managed and executed in real time.Outside of engineering, I work part-time at the Montclair YMCA as a Private Lesson Program Coordinator. I run the private lesson program, manage a team of instructors, and handle scheduling and payroll. I’ve also helped grow the program’s revenue significantly, which has taught me a lot about ownership, organization, and working with people. These responsibilities have built my skills in organization, coordination, and people management—abilities I know are just as essential in engineering as technical expertise.What drives me is the opportunity to combine technical problem-solving with collaboration and leadership. I’m motivated to apply my engineering background, project management experience, and people-first mindset to create solutions that move aerospace and propulsion forward.
