ABOUT JESSICA SIMCIK
As an attorney with experience in both the public and private sectors, I am dedicated to advocating for my clients and ensuring their legal needs are met. I earned my J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2017, where I excelled academically and served as President of both the Women Law Students Association and STCL Texas Exes. I also earned certificates in State Bar of Texas Law Student Pro Bono Honors, Certified Texas Mediator, and State of Texas Board Certified Attorney. In addition to my legal education, I hold a B.S. in Communication Studies and a minor in Government from the University of Texas, Austin. During my time at UT Austin, I was an active member of various organizations such as University Democrats, Out Against Abuse, and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. At the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, my role as Assistant General Counsel involves crafting intricate real estate deals and establishing protocols that serve as blueprints for innovative transactions. Our team\'s collaborative efforts have led to streamlined contract processes and enhanced legal frameworks, benefiting the organization and stakeholders alike. Prior to this, I worked as an Associate Attorney for Nike at Integreon, where I drafted and negotiated contracts, and as a Legislative Director for Texas Representative Mary Ann Perez, where I researched and analyzed legislation related to assigned issues and developed strong relations with constituents and government agencies. Throughout my legal career, I have also gained experience in litigation and appellate practice as a Law Clerk at Waldron & Schneider and as a Legal Intern in the Consumer Protection Division at the Texas Attorney General’s Office. In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, reading, and listening to podcasts. I even built my own tiny house with my dad and enjoy making improvements to it. I also love to travel and have visited over 20 countries. Leveraging my expertise in contract negotiation and federal and state law application, I\'ve mentored fellow attorneys and legal assistants, fostering professional growth and departmental excellence. My commitment to precision in drafting transaction documents and templates for unprecedented deals underscores my dedication to advancing the legal field.
