Plumbing standards are public health — and public health is personal.I am the Manager of Standards Development at the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), where I lead national, binational, and industry standards programs supporting plumbing, mechanical, and building water systems.With a background in biochemistry and psychology, I bring a human‑centered, science‑forward perspective to consensus‑based standards governance. Over the past decade, I’ve worked closely with engineers, manufacturers, code officials, and regulators to ensure the standards we write are technically sound, enforceable, and grounded in real‑world performance.My work focuses on standards governance, continuous maintenance, and helping stakeholders navigate standards development with clarity and confidence — especially when emerging technologies don’t fit neatly into existing frameworks.My mission is simple: make standards less mysterious, bring more voices into the process, and help the next generation of professionals see that standards development isn’t just important — it’s impactful.Through #JessicaStandardTime and #CodeCurious, I share tools, insights, and stories from the standards side — because when you understand how the rules are written, you’re empowered to help shape them.
