ABOUT JESSICA KRAKOSKI
I am a public relations professional for books, authors and publishers. I believe that books are powerful vehicles for change in our personal lives, organizations, and societies. My mission is to help important non-fiction books – and the thinkers behind them – get noticed in the competitive marketplace of ideas through high-profile media coverage and events. I joined the book publishing industry in 2006, fresh out of college and eager to live my lifelong dream of working with books and authors. I began my career in New York as an in-house publicist at Simon & Schuster and Basic Books, and later joined the book publicity firm Cave Henricks Communications. I spent 12 years there as second-in-command, leading the team of publicists and executing the campaigns for some of the agency’s highest-profile clients. I hung out my own shingle in 2022.While I love reading fiction in my personal time, in my work, I represent serious non-fiction, primarily in the categories of business, work/career, technology, economics, current events, big ideas and politics. I love landing the big media hits for my clients, but I also delight in the hard work that produces that outcome – from big-picture thinking on media strategy, story angles, op-eds, and prep for high-stakes interviews to the day-to-day logistics and nitty-gritty details that keep a book launch campaign on track. And, of course, my happy place is pitching my clients - strategic, personalized, and relentless outreach to the right journalists at the right time. I was once called “pleasantly persistent” by a journalist who covered many of my clients, which is quite possibly the highest compliment for a PR professional. I am a three-time winner of the Michael Smart PR Best Pitch of the Year award.I keep a copy of every book I have represented on my bookshelves as a visual reminder of how much I have learned from the brilliant thinkers that trusted me to introduce their important ideas to the world.
