ABOUT JESSICA FAIRBANKS

Jessie began her career working in documentaries. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked as a Production Assistant on studio films such as Taken (2008), and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), later becoming a Segment Producer for national clip television shows. Jessie then spent nearly a decade in New York City producing large scale events, festivals, and creative projects for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Tribeca Film Festival, HBO, The Documentary Group, David Byrne Presents, and Google. During this time she began programming films for local festivals. Following NYC, Jessie relocated to Chicago and shifted into curatorial work full time. She is currently the Director of Programming at SFFILM, the oldest film festival organization in the Americas.Prior to joining SFFILM, Jessie curated for DOC NYC, Tribeca Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, MountainFilm, and others. Jessie belongs to the nominating committee for Cinema Eye Honors and is a long standing grant evaluator for Chicken & Egg Pictures. She served on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Underground Film Festival and the Independent Film Alliance for several years, and has consulted for Sundance Film Festival and the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Jessie is routinely a guest speaker at universities and arts organizations in Chicago and the Bay Area.
