WORK HISTORY
Pet Service & Experience Specialist @Rover.com
Skokie, IL, US
In 2018, I realized a greater need for personalized pet care in mid-Missouri while working at an animal shelter. Far too many were being surrendered simply because their family lacked the time, money, and/or resources to invest in their companion\'s well-being. Moreover, animals have unique personalities from their lived experiences, so traditional boarding and doggy daycare may not be an option. Joining the Rover.com community was the best way to provide personalized pet care for dogs and cats where they feel most comfortable — their home! I started marketing my services to new pet parents by including promotional flyers in adoption packets: Maintain a verified Star Sitter Status to appear at the top of search results with a 100% client satisfaction rate and 145 five-star testimonials from over 425 bookings provided with fear-free pet care Since 2018: 100% response rate, promptly addressing all client inquiries within 30 minutes Since April 2023: maintain a 90% higher new client booking & acceptance rate compared to other pet sitters within service areas in Illinois and Arkansas Regularly communicate with daily and weekly repeat clients to submit care summaries, confirm scheduling requests, and accommodate additional pet and client needs Schedule meet-and-greets with all new clients to establish rapport and discuss pet care guidelines Offer additional services, such as dog behavior modification consultations with positive reinforcement training plans, yard waste removal, and home upkeep

SKILLS
ABOUT JESSICA STONE
I’m a mission-driven nonprofit professional committed to keeping pets in loving homes and out of the shelter system through community support services that improve human and animal well-being. With a background in shelter, veterinary, and community-supported shelter settings, I specialize in compassionate client & patient care, program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and social media marketing. Most recently worked to reduce barriers to accessing compassionate veterinary care in northwest Arkansas at a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinic.I strive to preserve the human-animal bond while enhancing the effectiveness and inclusivity of contemporary animal services within underserved communities. Providing affordable, convenient, and Fear-Free pet care services in Northwest Arkansas has become an extension of my dedication to this cause. In addition, I advocate for workplace equity and well-being for historically oppressed and marginalized groups within existing DEI frameworks that discount these lived experiences in their engagement strategies. Raising awareness for neurodiversity inclusion is especially important to me, as neurodivergent individuals often struggle to achieve their full potential in the modern workplace, often lacking a sense of acceptance, flexibility, and career stability.Neurodiverse talent thrives in animal welfare, where creative problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making save lives.
