ABOUT JESSICA SIEVERT

My practice focuses on litigating complex civil and criminal cases, handling government and internal investigations and advising clients on compliance related matters. I have more than 15 years of specialized experience prosecuting and defending healthcare fraud – both in private practice and on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) – so I frequently represent clients in the healthcare industry.I have investigated, litigated, and negotiated resolutions in countless healthcare fraud cases involving the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, hospice care, skilled nursing, long-term care facilities, academic medical centers, hospitals, lab testing, medical necessity and upcoding, among others. I also handle complex litigation in the civil and white collar criminal contexts, as well as securities and other high-stakes litigation.Prior to joining Holland & Knight, I held various positions throughout the DOJ and gained extensive knowledge and experience as to the False Claims Act (FCA). I served as the deputy civil chief and healthcare fraud coordinator in the U.S. Attorney\'s Office for the Southern District of Florida, where I supervised all FCA matters and other civil enforcement cases districtwide. I also served as a DOJ trial attorney in the Civil Fraud Section, where I managed a nationwide docket of healthcare fraud cases through all phases of investigation, litigation and settlement. In addition, I was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Tennessee, primarily handling healthcare and procurement fraud matters.
