ABOUT JESSICA PECK
Dr. Jessica Peck is an expert pediatric nurse practitioner who provides innovative, visionary, and award-winning leadership to develop and lead inclusive and diverse interprofessional teams. She is a two-time Hall of Fame Inductee for nursing journal article of the year. Dr. Peck is an internationally recognized anti-trafficking advocate. As President of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, she created the Alliance for Children in Trafficking and served as founding chair. Dr. Peck served as consultant to the US Congress and worked with the US Department of Health and Human Services and an interprofessional team to create core competencies for health professionals caring for individuals exploited and abused through trafficking. She serves as Lead Medical Consultant for Unbound Houston and was instrumental in passage of House Bill 2059, mandating continuing education for all care providers in Texas. Dr. Peck is currently a Clinical Professor of Nursing at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas. She holds active credentials as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Educator, and Clinical Nurse Leader. Dr. Peck is a frequently requested national speaker on anti-trafficking and child health. As both a nurse practitioner and a mother of four children, she has a special interest in educating and equipping families to promote positive physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health. She is an accomplished author of clinical articles for peer-reviewed journals, a regular contributor for parenting magazines and a frequent guest on radio, television, and other media. She is the author of Behind Closed Doors: A Guide for Parents and Teens to Navigate Through Life’s Toughest Issues, released by W Publishing in October of 2022 Dr. Peck is the recipient of numerous honors including Distinguished Alumnus University of Texas Medical Branch (2022), Lillian Wald Humanitarian Award from the National League for Nursing (2022), Advocate of the Year by the American Nurses Association (2022), the Sharp Cutting Edge Award from AANP (2021), Advocate State Award for Excellence from AANP (2021), and Texas Nurse Practitioner of the Year (2019). She is Distinguished Alumni University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing (2020). Other recognitions include Community Impact Award from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (2018), Gold Medal for Nursing Education from the Good Samaritan Foundation (2012), Love of Learning Award from Phi Kappa Phi International (2012), and Innovation in Clinical Practice from the University of Alabama (2012).
