Design Manager for Free People Collection working in soft woven and print/color wholesale, retail and direct product lines-Responsible for managing/directing a team of 16 on entire design process from concept to production, including sketch reviews, presentations, tech packs, and approvals-Executed first proto samples by deconstructing vintage garments, draping, sewing and creating artwork layouts by hand-Partnered with technical designers on fittings and technical packages-Worked with fabric coordinator to source and develop new and trend specific fabrics monthly-Collaborated with print and color team on artwork and print development-Coordinated with production team on bulk approvals of fabric, trims and samples as well as ensuring margins and price points are met-Attended buying, merchandising and sales meetings to stay informed of wholesale accounts, retail store and direct business selling and needs-Collaborated with other design teams for trend/concept presentations seasonally by shopping domestic and international markets for inspiration and new trends-Travelled to oversea vendors in Asia for product development and fabric/trim sourcing-Generated illustrations for trend/concept presentations.
