ABOUT JESSICA MERCADO ORTEGA
I am a Peruvian lawyer specialized in banking, corporate, and capital markets law, currently pursuing an LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law at Boston University School of Law (Two-Year Program), where I was awarded the LL.M. Leadership Scholarship. I bring over five years of legal experience advising financial institutions and corporate clients on secured lending, syndicated loans, and regulatory compliance. As in-house counsel at Interbank, I led financing transactions of up to $50 million in key industries such as mining, energy, and real estate. I also provided strategic legal advice on banking operations, credit products, and regulatory matters. Previously, I worked at Muñiz, one of Peru’s largest law firms, where I supported cross-border lending deals, bond issuances, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. My background across civil and common law jurisdictions allows me to navigate cross-border financial issues with precision and cultural fluency. I am especially engaged by legal work that bridges Latin American markets and international financial institutions.
