About Jess Harvey

Passionate about expanding my knowledge of Sustainability through the lens of Bioethics, a crucial yet often overlooked aspect within the ESG landscape. I am dedicated to exploring how these issues currently impact the lives and well-being of individuals I deeply care about, as well as countless others, and using my own perspective of healthcare from my individual experience. From delving into the nuanced interplay of biodiversity among humans and all organisms to exploring the ethical considerations surrounding neurology, mental health, disabilities, and the use of AI in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sectors, and even examining the projected increase of antimicrobial resistance resulting from growth in active pharmaceutical ingredients being released into the environment through urine excretion, I am passionate about advocating for this often-neglected area that is ripe for reform. I strongly believe that addressing these themes is essential for a more holistic approach to social responsibility, one that is both quantifiable and crucial for systemic change. With a deep sense of pride in my neurodivergent and autistic identity and having overcome significant health challenges, including battling epilepsy, a brain tumor, and unexpected personality change and depression post-neurosurgery, sepsis, and prolonged neuroinflammation, I am wholeheartedly committed to assisting individuals facing cognitive, neurological, and mental health challenges. Through my diverse leadership roles in employee resource groups, mentoring initiatives, and nonprofit associate boards, along with my international outreach programs supporting children with special needs, engagements on conference panels, and everyday interactions, I strive to offer support and advocacy for those navigating similar struggles, especially within more vulnerable and underserved communities. As Michelangelo said,\"A beautiful thing never gives so much pain as does failing to see and hear it.\" I am committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others who ask of my help.As an ESG-focused Finance professional, I am driven to contribute to a more sustainable world by collaborating with my team at Barclays on calibrating industry portfolio-based GHG emission intensity reduction targets. My role involves evaluating clients within our team-developed climate transition framework, providing both quantitative and qualitative assessments, and partnering with bankers to support clients in their journey towards reducing their carbon footprint in a way that addresses just transition for all.
