As a Senior Consultant in the Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) Services unit for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group of Kaiser Permanente, I conduct evidence-based technology assessments and clinical practice guidelines development and previously coordinated our medical technology management process. The EBM unit provides evidence-based reviews to providers and Chiefs of Specialty for practice-wide policy development and implementation in Kaiser Permanente\'s Southern California region as well as in support of Kaiser\'s Permanente\'s electronic medical record, KPHealthConnect, to improve the quality and delivery of care. We also provide evidence for and oversee the development of the Southern California region\'s clinical practice guidelines. In addition, we support the Southern California member appeals process by providing evidence for medical inquiries regarding novel or non-standard of care therapies, devices, and interventions. I previously managed the Medical Technology Assessment Team, a committee that evaluates and reviews the evidence for new and existing medical technologies to inform decisions regarding the deployment and implementation of medical technology in the Southern California region.Currently, I lead the assessment of AI- or ML-assisted medical technologies as well as evaluating AI/MI-based tools for the automation of systematic literature reviews. I am also involved in the review of pharmacogenomic tests and the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics.
