ABOUT JESS HENDREN
Hi! I’m a User Experience & Interaction Designer with a background in hospitality, travel & tourism and science. I’m currently working at DINR in Toronto as a senior member of the design team. I conduct research activities, participate in product planning, create prototypes, and implement thoughtful & intuitive visual designs for our iOS and Android apps. After spending 15 years working in restaurants and hotels all over the world, I’m still always surprised by the parallels between hospitality and user experience. The ability to understand guest needs, creating tailored experiences for different scenarios, ensuring a seamless and accessible environment, and communicating effectively between guests and the back-of-house have equipped me with soft skills that helped me transition into UX. These skills have been integral in collaborating with various teams, understanding people, and designing intuitive, user-friendly digital products. I believe user experience design thinking has applications beyond the digital domain and I’m passionate about helping to create products that enhance real-world interactions by understanding the full end-to-end user journey.
