About Jessica Miles
I am an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys working with data throughout its life cycle: from requirements gathering to collection using ELT/ETL, cleaning and manipulation, storing, QA, dataset modeling, and visualization. I primarily work in Python with some experience in PySpark and JavaScript, and am expert in Postgres SQL and working in Redshift. I have worked with tens of APIs and SDKs to retrieve data from various sources, and even used Selenium to extract daily reports from partner portals when no other options were available. I\'m familiar with the AWS tech stack, especially S3, EC2, and Glue, as well as a working knowledge of GCP and Big Query. I\'ve worked with small data sets as well as large ones from Google Search Console, and event streams from Google Analytics.Although my bachelor\'s degree was in English, I\'ve always worked in technical roles, and first taught myself SQL and object-oriented programming while at my first job during college. In 2021, I decided to more formally transition to a technical career, which I jump-started by taking a bootcamp in Data Science from Flatiron. Since starting my first official engineer position at Fortune Media, I\'ve been loving getting to write code every day, build and optimize data systems, and apply my detail-oriented mind toward creating accurate, reliable, and performant data sets for business stakeholders. In the future, I hope to have the chance to work with different types of data, learn new tools and technologies that make it easier to work with data, and solve new types of problems.
