About Jesse Rond
My life passion is in the field of robotics and I am always open to additional networking opportunities with those who promote AI, automation, and robotics. With my technical background in engineering, along with my military-grade leadership experience, I thrive in project & program management. I love leading diverse teams of talented engineers and roboticists. Equipped with my Project Management Professional (P.M.P.) certification, I am excited to play a key role in the future of robotics.I graduated with a Master\'s Degree in Robotics from Oregon State University. I worked in the Dynamic Robotics Laboratory under Dr. Jonathan Hurst where we studied legged locomotion. My research in foot-to-ground impact dynamics led to an ASME conference paper (accepted), an ASME journal paper (in review), and a provisional patent (in review). My research showed how mechanical design of a robot foot mitigates peak impact forces by 70%.Furthermore, my research into social robotics was accepted as an conference paper. I built an expressive motion robot used in improvisational theater. I studied various human-robot scenes and explained how robots can nonverbally communicate in unstructured environments, how to categorize their movements based on resulting human interpretations, and how robots can transition from mere props into a social actors. Before graduate school, I served 8 years in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer where I was titled as one of the military’s 2017 Top 40 Under 40. By the end of my naval career, I had oversight of 175 radar system engineers who provided technical services to 95 warships. I also excelled at program management, as evidenced by all 5 of my ship programs earning a Navy-wide award.Additional Keywords: human-robot interactions, HRI, mechanical design, mobile robots, personnel management, program management, driverless cars, drone, unmanned aerial vehicles, UAV, unmanned underwater vehicles, UUV

I love working as a project lead where I ensure the functionality and quality of software releases that get installed onto a globally distributed 2.5-million-dollar surgical robot. To date, I\'ve managed the design & testing of 5 software releases, leaving me extremely proud to have played a key role in the successful rollout of 55 system upgrades world-wide.
