About Jesse Cook

I’m a machine learning engineer working in the financial sector, where I build and maintain the infrastructure that makes data science possible at scale — cloud architecture in AWS, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling with Terraform and Harness, and the kind of production-grade systems that regulated industries demand.I’m also helping lead AI adoption at my company, working on the front lines of bringing LLM-powered solutions into a regulated environment. This isn’t my first time building intelligent systems, either — I was building chatbots with hands-on NLP at Cisco well before the current generative AI wave, working with the nuts and bolts of intent classification, entity extraction, and dialogue management. That foundation gives me a practical, grounded perspective on what AI can actually deliver versus what’s just hype.I also maintain a deep love of statistics. During my master’s at Texas A&M, I researched whether gut permeability biomarkers (zonulin, lipopolysaccharides, and LPS-binding protein) could predict Alzheimer’s disease, building classification models grounded in logistic regression and diagnostic accuracy. That experience taught me what it looks like to apply rigorous statistical methods to questions with real human stakes, and it still shapes how I approach my work today. Now I bridge the gap between data engineering and data science, making sure models don’t just perform well in a notebook but actually work reliably in production. I’m most energized when I get to combine that infrastructure mindset with serious statistical thinking.Always happy to connect with others working at the intersection of data, health, and applied statistics.
