About Jesse Carrillo

I\'ve known since my time in college that I had a responsibility. Growing up in El Paso, I did not have many role models who were college-educated, and quite honestly, few expected anything different from my brother and me. THIS is why I serve - I have a responsibility as a first-generation college graduate to share what I have learned so that, just maybe, others\' obstacles will be less turbulent. For me, that responsibility has transpired in different ways. I began my career as a teacher in Houston — one of my greatest responsibilities. I\'ve continued to work alongside education pioneers in the college access and success space.Since 2016, I\'ve been pursing another passion of mine professionally - personal finance! My story is shaped by my upbringing and that includes the financial hardships I experienced alongside my family growing up. I knew that I needed to educate myself to do things differently and that turned into educating others. I\'ve been fortunate to work with a team that specializes in serving educators.
