About Jesse Hsu
As an R&D chemist and project leader in the emerging technologies group at Qnity, I conduct early stage research aimed to bring advanced materials to market in the electronics industry. I’m highly motivated in applying fundamentals in organic, polymer, and materials chemistry for new product development, and I’m passionate about serving strong, collaborative, and inclusive scientific teams & communities. In 2024, I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry under the mentorship of Prof. Brett Fors at Cornell University. My doctoral research focused on leveraging principles in organic chemistry at the interface of catalysis and electrochemistry to precisely control polymer synthesis and degradation. This work was highly collaborative, resulting in 13 peer-reviewed publications, 1 patent application, and important advancements in well-controlled polymerizations, materials for green hydrogen devices, and more sustainable plastics. In addition, I hold a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Physics from Ithaca College, with undergraduate research experience at Yale, Georgetown, and Ithaca in labs spanning chemical engineering, materials physics, and polymer chemistry.
