As WordPress Practice Lead, my role now also includes managing our development team, evolving our WordPress practice, and expanding the business through various efforts.Leading our dev team of 3–4 developers involves managing their day-to-day tasks and ensuring everyone has projects and remains on track with deadlines. Throughout the year, I support the team through regular check-ins, providing feedback, helping them achieve their goals, and conducting performance reviews. I’m also heavily involved in the hiring process, helping define job descriptions and interview processes, as well as participating in final interview stages.My goal in leading our WordPress practice is to create a sustainable WordPress development and maintenance process for our higher education and enterprise clients. This includes working across many aspects of the web project lifecycle: ensuring the team follows best practices and stays current with changes in the ecosystem, creating processes and documentation, establishing internal standards, and tracking all WordPress projects to provide support where needed. I also present internally on new topics, demo new features, and develop proofs of concept for new solutions.Finally, I contribute to the business’s success through a variety of marketing and growth efforts, including blog posts, webinars, and conference presentations, as well as building relationships with new and existing partners and clients. With Solutions Architect remaining a significant part of my role, I participate in the sales process end-to-end, including working with our sales team as a technical consultant on RFIs and RFPs, and taking part in pitches.
