About Jesse Albert Canchola

Jesse Canchola is a native Californian and has been a statistician for over 25 years. He earned a bachelor\'s degree in statistics from UC Berkeley, a master\'s degree in statistics from UC Davis, and undertook additional coursework at UCLA. He is an accredited Professional Statistician [PStat®].​Jesse started his career as a biostatistician at Alpha Therapeutics Corporation, located in Los Angeles,​before moving to the Bay Area in 1992. He worked as a Statistician to Principal Statistician for 14 years in the Dept. of Medicine (DOM) at UCSF, ​where he was a consulting statistician to DOM departments and ran the intern program at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS). ​Jesse then moved to the molecular diagnostics industry as Senior ​​Biostatistician at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics in Berkeley, where he worked for about 6 years on the VERSANT HxV quant and HCV DBS quant assays. He then moved to Tethys Bioscience, a small startup in Emeryville, California, where he worked as Product Development Biostatistician for 2 years on the PreDx test.After Tethys, Jesse landed at Roche Molecular Systems in Pleasanton, California, in 2013, where he began as Senior Biostatistician (contract) then as Principal Biostatistician (FTE) and most recently, as Manager, Biostatistics, and as virology lead for both registrational and non-registrational studies​ within MSA/Biometrics.Jesse was also adjunct faculty in the Department of Statistics at the California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California, for 12 years from 1997 to 2008, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics as well as being the SAS instructor for the Department. Over the years, Jesse has presented, and continues to present his work, at statistics and SAS conferences (including The Joint Statistical Meetings, The SAS Global Forum/SUGI, PharmaSUG and WUSS) and written substantially in peer reviewed journals (with over 40 joint publications and over citations).
