ABOUT JESICA BENTON
My aspiration to continue my career with your company stems from my belief and dedication that all students deserve a supportive and caring learning environment promoting student growth. In my experiences, I have been able to achieve this by leading special education teachers and staff in having a clear understanding of and being compliant with IDEA state and federal mandates. Over my twenty year career, I have worked closely with teacher leaders, parents, administrators, and students to provide assistance and guidance for all students to have the opportunity to become successful and have equitable access to all curriculum and education programs. My passion that all students have the resources available for equitable access to rigorous instruction has been evident within the following areas:Supervision of Special Education departments in grades 6-12 with an emphasis on critical analyses of current practices with a focus on improvement.Planning and facilitated Special Education training in grades 6-12 to provide teacher development in the areas emphasizing teaching strategies and implementing academic and functional curriculum.Collaborated with Student Support Division (SSD) region leadership to ensure quality support services for identified students and their families.Investigated and resolved parent concerns related to IEP concerns.Worked with teachers and staff to develop instructional and behavior plans to ensure all students have the opportunity for student achievement and equitable access. Continuously tracking data for MAPS, SBAC, and other intervention programs for planning student goals and benchmarks. Implementing Community events with wrap around services, LINKS, FACES, and foster care agencies to improve student mental health and academic achievement. My strengths and experiences within Special Education and leadership would be a valuable asset to engage and cement the ideals and successes is students. I possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide-range of individuals and constituencies in diverse communities. During my career in Special Education and administration, I have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead, direct, and manage a multitude of projects, tasks, and services simultaneously. I stand for justice in all Education related realms and feel strongly that district employees, families, and students need someone with my expertise to help ensure all students have the opportunity for success.
