Hey there, I’m Jeryl! I co-lead AWS Machine Learning University’s Educator Enablement Program, where I work with higher ed faculty across the U.S. to strengthen their AI and machine learning knowledge. Through ongoing training and networking opportunities, I give professors the tools, confidence, and network to bring AI/ML into their teaching and research, helping expand access to tech education for students at HBCUs, MSIs, and community colleges.Before this, I was the “Dean of Students” at Amazon Technical Academy, supporting thousands of Amazon employees and associates transitioning into software engineering roles; and later worked on global DEI and employee engagement strategies for Amazon’s Talent Acquisition org. Earlier in my career, I spent a decade in higher education, from expanding graduate STEM programs at multiple Northeastern University campuses 🟥, to leading student success and engagement initiatives at the University of Nevada, Reno, California State University, Sacramento, the University of California Office of the President (systemwide office).I’m a proud Filipino-American, first-generation college graduate, and current Doctoral student in Higher Education Administration ( expected Dec. 2026 ) – currently focusing on how faculty development opens doors for underserved student communities in tech.    I co-lead AWS Machine Learning University’s (MLU) Educator Enablement Program, working with hundreds of higher education faculty across the U.S. to strengthen their AI/ML knowledge and teaching capacity by intentionally designing and iterating on learning experiences. Through training bootcamps and additional co-curricular learning and networking experiences, I offer educators the technical knowledge, tools, and confidence to bring AI/ML into their teaching and research. This social impact work ultimately expands access to industry-aligned tech education for tens of thousands of students at minority-serving institutions (MSIs), historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and community colleges (CCs).I’m responsible for the program’s strategic vision and roadmap, setting priorities across training operations, open-source curriculum content, and educator engagement to scale AI/ML adoption sustainably. I build partnerships with academic, industry, and community leaders; design and facilitate multimodal training experiences; and use adoption, engagement, and satisfaction signals to inform iteration and focus areas. I also cultivate a growing community of practice that enables collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and long-term impact. By equipping educators with the skills and support they need, they can prepare students for high-demand tech careers and help develop the next generation of innovators advancing AWS technologies.
