End-to-end steering of Zalando’s global privacy program, taking ownership of its spectrum of reactive and preventive measures to minimise privacy risk, balancing numerous operational aspects of privacy compliance while simultaneously optimising them- Running and optimising Zalando’s flagship privacy program for its European operations, as well as building parallel privacy programs internationally as part of Zalando’s expansion plans- Administering processes to manage Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) while simultaneously steering projects to automate them to enable Zalando’s growth ambitions- Curating and deploying internal policies with privacy-relevance to Zalando’s 17K employees- Globally enabling Zalando to fulfil its transparency obligations across 25 markets by managing its landscape of internal- and external-facing privacy notices- Ensuring that users’ preferences are respected by managing consent throughout all of Zalando’s websites and applications- Improving response protocols to requests for access, deletion, and other data protection queries and complaints of Zalando’s 50M customers, as well as of present, future, and past employees- Increasing company-wide privacy awareness by continuously improving efforts on training and enablement on privacy best practices- Ensuring privacy by design when designing and implementing processes by working closely with process owners- Collaborating with numerous stakeholders to ensure not only that Zalando is well-prepared to respond to privacy incidents, but also that learnings and future preventive measures can be derived- Supporting the Data Protection Officer in regular auditing activities across the organisation- Building KPIs and other quantitative measures to monitor the privacy program’s overall progress and maturity level- Acting as a functional lead to 2 peers, in addition to steering external workforce via service providers.

I am responsible for Zalando\'s privacy program and its spectrum of reactive and preventive measures to minimise privacy risk. I work on a daily basis with privacy/tech lawyers and security engineers, as well as with business stakeholders across the Zalando Group. I orchestrate our various privacy compliance processes, e.g. RoPAs, DPIAs, privacy notices, and cookie banners. Ask me about privacy by design in the context of performance management, warehouse operations, video surveillance, and everything in between. I also know a thing or two about raising privacy awareness via training, managing privacy incidents, and how you can request access or even delete your own data.In a previous life I was an academic investigating cognitive processes related to language processing. After academia I transitioned into a data analyst role, working with sensitive employee data topics such as performance management and employee engagement. Then GDPR happened, which introduced me to the data protection field.When I am not at work, I am probably entertaining myself in some theatre or opera house.
