About Jerry Healey

It\'s been a fascinating time since 2011 when I got back in the media business. I had been in it for 18 years prior to my successful exit, selling my newspapers to a private equity backed group. Then on to grad school, mergers and acquisitions and owning an entirely different company that has installed about half of all the glass products in the Vail Valley (Alpine Glass and Mirror). But in 2011, I was presented with a very interesting offer to get back in the media business leading to my biggest and most important challenge ever. As the owner of 18 community weekly newspapers and community websites, I have assembled Colorado\'s largest community news outlet. Each week, we reach over Coloradoan though newspapers, websites and social media. What I do, is so important to the communities we serve. The Newspapers and websites build community. They bring us together. They create conversation. They watch for injustice and wrongdoing. They tell our stories — good and bad, happy and sad. They cover life — and our lives. Our oldest newspaper, the Golden Transcript has been doing this for over 150 years! I come to work thinking about how to place this company on the path to fulfilling its mission for another 150 years. I do that by supporting our writers, sales, production and operation teams. But, recently I have spearheaded bringing into the mix a complete digital advertising agency. So, when one of our sales team members meet with a business, in addition to our traditional print and website products, they have access to some of the best digital advertising tools in the industry. We have created one stop shopping for small and mid-sized businesses. And having been in the communities for so long, we are a trusted by businesses and community members. It\'s a fascinating time we live in. I am motivated each day knowing I am doing something constructive to support documenting this time and this place.

   Our Community Newspapers are strong. Residents are eager for news about their own communities, which increasingly, only we provide. Each week, we print and deliver 22 weekly newspapers with a circulation of in the suburbs of Denver, plus two monthly community newspapers in the City of Denver. We also publish two shoppers, one in Weld/Northern Adams County and the other in foothills of Jefferson County. By the end of one week, we reach over people through our print, online and social media.
