ABOUT JERRY DICKINSON
A career Railway person, but who has moved through working in London for over 2 decades, to a similar role at York since 2010. During those years I have become heavily involved in knowledgeable in multi agency work, with significant experience in many emergency exercises throughout the Eastern Region of Network Rail. I am part of a number of working groups, which look at our National Emergency Plan, which includes the embedding of JESIP and NDM principles, and worked to write and lead a number of high profile events, including the Tour De France when it came to Yorkshire, where I was the Tactical Commander for the industry. Last year I worked with the Home Office Counter Terrorism team to help write, and deliver a large table top event at York Rail Museum. I am passionate about promoting shared situational awareness but also explaining the specific role of the rail industry in the multi agency field and ensuring our people understand their and their businesses requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. Aside the above I led the support for the Network Rail Help Line when it started in Hull under a new contract and ensured their staff were upskilled in the specifics of what type of calls were to be passed as immediates to the operational control rooms around the country. In my spare time, I lead a small team of railway staff who run charity charters for Martin House Hospice, which to date has seen us raise £225k since 2019.
