About Jerrel Catlett

I\'m a 4th year MD/PhD Candidate and aspiring pediatric oncologist passionate about developing and leveraging novel functional genomic tools and small molecule degraders to study epigenetic mechanisms driving childhood cancer. As a student in the Jian Jin Laboratory at Mount Sinai, I am building expertise in the application of medicinal chemistry and in vitro techniques to generate novel precision therapies for clinical use. I have a combined 5.5 years of laboratory experience performing in vivo and in vitro protocols to carry out basic science research projects investigating congenital disorders of metabolism and regulators of pediatric solid tumor progression. I also have five months of teaching experience mentoring undergraduate students in the critique and design of disruptive technologies to improve domestic and global healthcare infrastructure. Outside of lab, I enjoy volunteering, marathon-running, and baking sourdough bread.
