Experience
Senior Data Scientist
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Aug 2015 — Present
As a Senior Data Scientist, my responsibilities include- Being a thought-leader on using Plan-Do-Check-Act cycles to create tolerance for ambiguity in many different kinds of processes related to data, ML, and AI- Identifying the Just-In-Time needs of ML/AI systems and data analysis products, consistent with the goals of stakeholders, and effectively communicating the benefits of proposed changes- Architecting and iteratively refining robust ML/AI solutions for 24/7 real-time in-place monitoring solutions (RF/IPMS) that cluster, annotate, and detecting anomalies on millions of daily data points, using Docker, Python, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Numba, Zeromq, and MongoDB- Developing ML/AI applications with well-structured, efficient, and production-ready code for ETL, model training, and analysis using Python and adhering to SOLID design principles where appropriate- Deep exploratory data analysis on complex data sets, structured and unstructured, that results in useable hypotheses about entity relationships, latent variables, and covariate models, using Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Pandas, Pyarrow, Scikit Learn, Matplotlib, Plotly, and Seaborn- Creating actionable insights with data visualization, infographics, and dash boards using a mixture of Python visualization tools, Plotly, Dash, Atlas Charts, MLFlow, and Tensorboard, depending on project needs- Proposing, reviewing, and researching system designs for the impactful application of advanced deep learning models, including designs incorporating LLMs, vision transformers, and convolutional networks- Leading small teams (3-6) of data scientists, developers, and subject matter experts through the research, development, and collaborative effort required to deliver technically sound ML/AI applications.
