I write long-form stories about various places and people in North Carolina and assist Our State’s growing video team on projects that will unveil in sounds and scenes the beauty of where we live. I collaborate with Editor-in-chief Elizabeth Hudson and Executive Editor Todd Delaney and along with a talented crew of whip-smart journalists and videographers, designers and photographers, we unearth stories about the rich traditions, history, and the people of our state. In my writing work, I talk to loads of folks across the state about the who and the what of our home state. But I also ask those I meet about the why, the why it matters to them and those around them. I believe those stories represent the very essence of who we are, how we live and what we need to be for generations to come. To me, those details are what make a life and what makes us human.
