About Jeremy S.

I have completed my Master of Architecture degree from Southern Illinois University, and currently living in Norfolk, VA working for Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM). With my degree finished, I am now working towards my ultimate goal of licensure by having completed NCARB\'s Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and am currently preparing for the Architectural Registration Exams (AREs). Through the course of my education and past employment, I have gained an understanding of a building code analysis using the IBC, various structural systems in regards to the design and integration, and finally drafting a complete set of construction documents using Autodesk AutoCAD & Revit, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite. For my Master’s Thesis, I was challenged with a design project intended to address a current issue in the architectural field. I decided to focus on the care and housing of those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer\'s disease while finding alternative strategies to provide a better quality of life in an economical way for the client. Because of the rigorous research and design requirements, my thesis project is an excellent example of my ability to use both my written and graphic communication skills at the same time to support my proposal for alternative practices for a better well being of others.Recently, I have worked as an Construction Engineer, Architectural Project Manager, Architectural Field Coordinator, a Junior Architect, an Architectural Draftsmen, Lead Architect, & Architectural Designer. I have gained a wealth of knowledge from colleagues, managers, and onsite crew regarding fast pace design-build projects, building studies and efficiencies, as well as regional standard building practices. While with previous employments, I have acquired 3,961 hours in order to complete NCARB\'s AXP, one of the core requirements to get my architecture license. With my AXP complete, I have shifted my focus to practicing, taking, & completing my licensing exams.
