About Jeremy Shefer

The stories of ingenuity, critical thinking and creativity my grandfather told me of his work as a hydraulic engineer fascinated me from the time I was a kid. Growing up I found a similar calling and fulfillment in a digital age through becoming a full stack web engineer, using the power of code to create meaningful experiences for others one byte at a time.

   Worked on decomposing a monolith Rails application into well defined microservices by delineating application ownership boundaries, designing improved implementation of business logic leveraging recent developments in concurrency and resiliency tooling.* Architected new applications from scratch including language and framework choices, async processing choices making the apps easier for data, product and audit teams to interface with.* Researched AI RAG tooling and made it useful for product and engineering teams to enable faster onboarding and faster incident response times.* Implemented complex data gathering flows to support a large dollar amount feature.* Assisted in a successful PCI 4.0 audit of our underlying infrastructure.* Lead Avant\'s hosting of Ruby and Python meetups to spread knowledge and contribute to the Chicago coding community.
