I focus my legal practice on helping clients manage and properly apply Canadian Sales Tax laws including The Excise Tax Act (GST/HST), the Quebec Sales Tax Act (QST) as well as various provincial sales taxes, tobacco taxes, fuel taxes etc. I provide tax advice with respect to the application of sales taxes to the sale of goods, services and real estate transactions. I also help clients identify and understand their tax risks through due diligence reviews.In addition, I also represent clients under government audit - such as the Canada Revenue Agency. I assist client\'s with the preparation of their tax returns, as well as tax refund and rebate applications. Finally, I also help clients file tax returns and rebate claims as well as helping them identify and claim missed tax credits.Although I am based in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, I enjoy assisting clients across the globe manage their Canadian sales tax obligacations.

An experienced tax lawyer and former Head of Tax for a multi-billion dollar public company, helping clients understand and manage their Canadian Sales Tax (such as the GST/HST) obligations for more than 20 years. In addition to providing tax advice, I also provide tax compliance and audit defense services to a wide range of clients from the large public companies, to sole proprietors, not-for-profits and public sector bodies. I draw on my extensive background as a former partner in one of Canada\'s largest professional services firms, the head of tax for one of Canada’s largest retailers of food, tobacco and fuel products as well as being a former prosecutor to help my clients comply with sales tax legislation and manage tax audits.
