Developed and implemented an environmental, social, and economic impact assessment framework for capital investments like green infrastructure, urban forestry, and neighborhood park projects. Initial Benefit-Cost Analyses suggest that for every $1 invested in Groundwork-led projects we return >$4 in social, environmental, and economic impact in our communities.Created and sustain a network-wide curriculum focused on community-centered environmental data collection, interpretation, visualization, and storytelling using Community Science principles.Lead Federal agency grant development and provided expert leadership focused on youth and workforce development. Represent Groundwork USA across local, state, and federal policymaking partnerships.Lead a team of three reports on an externally-focused Grant Success Program for the EPA Thriving Communities Grantmakers subgrantees in EPA Regions 1-3.Provide keynote and panel presentations focused on sharing Groundwork project outcomes and principles.

ABOUT JEREMY HOFFMAN

Greetings! My name is Jeremy Hoffman. I am the Director of Impact Evaluation and Community Science at Groundwork USA and an affiliate faculty in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of Richmond. My work engages youth and adults from frontline communities in meaningful, neighborhood-strengthening climate resilience research and action projects to advance improved public health, climate-ready housing, and equitable access to green spaces in urban areas around the country. I also teach college-level coursework at the intersection of urban planning, public health, and climate science. The climate and health-related research I have published has been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic, Bloomberg, NPR, and PBS. I have been honored as a 2019 Richmond Top 40 Under 40, the Grist 50 Fixers List for 2020, a 2021 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, one of the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencers for 2022, the 2023 American Alliance of Museums Rising Star, the 2024 Pleasant Valley High School Hall of Honor inductee, and a member of the de Beaumont Foundation\'s 40 Under 40 in Public Health Class of 2025. I was also the Lead Author for the Southeast Chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment, NCA5, and co-Author on the first Virginia Climate Assessment\'s Heat Risk chapter.I earned my Ph.D. in Geology/Paleoclimatology at Oregon State University in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and Science Communication Fellow for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Mitchell Hamline School of Law. I was previously the David and Jane Cohn Scientist at the Science Museum of Virginia from 20••••23. I also serve my local community through volunteer Board of Directors appointments with the Southern Environmental Law Center (2026-present), Virginia Conservation Network (20••••26), the Greater Scott\'s Addition Association (2019-present), and the Virginia Office of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (2020-present).Check out my personal website for more about me and my work:
