A leader at Beacon Media, a 501(c)3 nonpartisan nonprofit in North Carolina, we are creating the 21st Century media organization solely focused on the needs of our collective democracy. How? We do that by working with the grassroots advocates and trusted messengers who are going to improve our democracy for the long-term and building around them and their values, seeking to persuade in places where the left rarely shows up and in underserved communities (particularly Black, rural and Latino) in English and Spanish. We go where the people are, not where the algorithms tell us — from NC\'s county newspapers to the church bulletin to the local WhatsApp group to community amplifiers on social media to meet the needs of NC, one community at a time.It\'s time to help North Carolina\'s grassroots, community leaders working for progress in North Carolina have the media platform they deserve to change our state for the better. As tech oligarchs seek to shape what we see, the future lies in the grassroots at the state and local level. I\'m proud to work to serve that movement and its incredible leaders.
