ABOUT JEREMY TAYLOR

Currently leading the Research & Evaluation (R&E) team at The Possible Zone (TPZ). I am a member of TPZ’s leadership team, helping to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement org-wide. As leader of the organization’s R&E team, I oversee program evaluation, institutional research, and development and implementation of knowledge management technologies across TPZ. Additionally, our team developed the organization’s theory of change and evaluation plan, on which TPZ’s program was built. Previously, I led CASEL’s assessment and continuous improvement work, including serving as Project Director for a multi-year national work group on social and emotional competence assessment (AWG). Worked with CASEL’s Chief Knowledge Officer to secure funding for this effort, which brings together more than 25 field-leading experts for collaboration over three years. Co-chaired AWG subgroup that developed an online assessment guide to support educators nationwide in identifying and effectively using currently available SEL assessments. Oversaw the building and engagement of a thriving and continuously growing extended network of collaborators for the AWG, which grew from 75 to more than members since mid-2016. Led the development of a robust project website that features a weekly blog. Additional ongoing responsibilities include: a twice-annual in-person convening of AWG core members, an annual design challenge for innovative SEL assessments, regularly production and dissemination of webinars and briefs on a variety of SEL assessment related topics, and a partnership with Civic Enterprises and Peter D Hart Associates to conduct a nationally representative survey of school and district administrators about their perceptions of SEL and SEL assessment. The emerging work of the AWG has quickly garnered national attention and support, being supported by seven different funding foundations and being mentioned or featured positively by several national media outlets, including NPR, EdWeek, and Education Dive.In my practice-focused continuous improvement role, the continuous improvement team provided direct support to more than 50 districts serving more than 2 million students, including 17 large urban school districts to which the continuous improvement team provides ongoing technical assistance at various levels. I’ve also provided consultation to more than 35 state departments of education on SEL Assessment.
