ABOUT JEREMY SMITH

I love writing code for a living, being paid to exercise my brain and make things a little better every day is great. I enjoy working and learning from others and helping others learn whenever i can, it is great to be able to work with passionate people that love what they do.Currently i am working on an embedded lead generation modal, within an iframe, and storybook component library for the modal which is distributed as a npm package. The frontend is Next.js in Javascript with Apollo, a Typescript GraphQl gateway following backend for frontend pattern, with Redis cache and Typescript Express backend and a generator service for clients to customise and generate their own custom modal. Prior to this I have been replicating Typescript micro-service API\'s. All of these have Jest unit test suites and are within Dockerised environments. Thanks to the existing funnel the application quickly had over £1m of revenue.Highlights so far include investigating a re-rendering issue, discovering an issue with using context for state management, planning an epic for migration of the whole application from context to Redux with Immer and the addition of the whole applications test suite which had been deemed not required for MVP. Additionally adding lifecycle rendering to the application by pausing rendering until animations are complete and messages pased to parent of the iframe and back to the application for dynamic height calculations.Prior to code I had a wide range of experiences in property and finance, going to buildings in London to look at leaks, managing repair budgets, hosting resident association meetings, valuing houses and calculating investment performance for very wealthy people and some celebrities (lots of spreadsheets!).
