ABOUT JEREMY SHIELDS

Anyone else graduate college during the Great Recession? Let’s just say the job market was a bit on the downside when I finished school in 2008. It took me eight months to find my first job. I learned a lot about perseverance and dedication during that time. 12 years later, I still admire that kid who worked hard, believed in himself, and found a fulfilling career in the legal industry. Good job, kid! I started on the graveyard shift doing document production work for an international law firm, working the 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. shift. So, one could say I’ve paid my dues! Over the next 12 years I would change law firms once and be promoted five times. I’ve always wanted to teach and in 2016 I worked my way into the Training Department at Pillsbury Law. As a lifelong musician and tech geek, I taught myself audio recording and engineering using digital audio interfaces, which required learning some very deep software programs. I found that I really enjoyed learning new software, which came in handy as an IT Trainer. In 2019, I transitioned to the IT Training Manager position where I currently help to direct and develop relevant course curricula and training opportunities for over 1,400 lawyers and administrative professionals. I love my job! I get to work with many smart and dedicated folks across a diverse and esteemed firm. As I write this short bio, I think back to that kid that started at the bottom during the 2008 recession. I feel a sense of gratitude for the adversities I’ve overcome and for the mentors and colleagues along my path. I feel incredibly fortunate to now be in a position where I am able to give back and mentor a new generation of future leaders.
