About Jeremy Sherey
As a biomedical engineering student at The University of Texas at Dallas, I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to solve real-world problems in healthcare and medicine. I have gained practical experience in using biomedical devices, conducting quantitative research, and analyzing data through my internships and research projects. In my current role as a research assistant at the Quantitative Bioimaging Lab, I collaborate with other researchers to manipulate and visualize hyperspectral imaging data of cancerous blood cell cultures, using Python, MATLAB, Excel, and other data analytic systems. I also have experience utilizing a combined microscope and hyperspectral camera setup to capture images for data analysis and augmentation. This project has enhanced my communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills, as well as my understanding of medical imaging and its applications.Previously, I worked as an engineering intern at Medtronic, where I created a system to sort and analyze physiological patient data from an adaptive deep brain stimulation device, using MATLAB. I also analyzed patient safety data on a stereotactic laser ablation study for epilepsy, ensuring physicians had a detailed report of the device\'s impact. This experience exposed me to the clinical trials process and the regulatory requirements of biomedical devices.Additionally, I have developed leadership and management skills through my four years of being a lifeguard and head lifeguard, where I supervised a staff of over 40 lifeguards and ensured the safety and satisfaction of pool patrons. I have also participated in an undergraduate research program for biomedical engineering, where I presented a poster on my research findings.I am eager to pursue a full-time position as a biomedical engineer, where I can apply my skills and interests to create innovative solutions that improve the quality of life and health outcomes of all people. I am confident that I can contribute to the success and growth of any organization that values creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
