ABOUT JEREMY RODRIGUEZ

Hey all, my name is Jeremy Rodriguez. I am a Presidential Scholar at Montclair State University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sports Communication with a minor in Business Administration.My goal is to become a full-time play-by-play announcer for a professional sports team. I have a passion for sports and broadcasting, and I have gained valuable experience and skills through my involvement in the Red Hawk Sports Network and the Radio Station. I have been apart of many important broadcasts throughout my time at Montclair State, like the Fall 2023 and Fall 2024 Montclair State Homecoming Football Games, where I was inside the studio creating live graphics while also keeping track of scores and trends throughout the game. I also spend a lot of time being a camera operator and learning how to be apart of a good production team. I had the honor to be one of the camera operators for multiple playoff games for various sports like soccer and volleyball, while also striving to become the best analyst and commentator I can be.Although I have a lot of experience in production and how to be behind a camera, I have found a real passion of being on camera as an analyst and commentator. Because of that, the WMSC 90.3 Radio Station, is something that I have truly enjoyed to be apart of. Since starting my time at Montclair State, I have been able to work in different varieties of sports broadcasting. I have done in studio work, where I am apart of pregame, halftime, and postgame shows for multiple different sports. As well as studio work, I have also broadcasted different sports through both play-by-play and color commentary. For play-by-play, I have been able to cover primarily soccer (men’s and women’s), field hockey, basketball, softball and football. For color commentary, I have been able to cover sports like baseball and lacrosse, while also mixing in the several other sports above.I have also developed my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills through these extracurricular activities. I am eager to learn more and apply my knowledge, abilities, and hardwork ethic to the sports media industry.As well as being a full time college student, my various skills also come into play as a lifeguard at The Funplex, where I ensure the safety and well-being of the guests, monitor the pool area, and perform first aid and CPR when needed. I was also able to receive my first promotion this past summer to a Pool Pro where I take on more of a leadership role. While I have worked two full summers in the water park, I also moved into a cashier role last fall.
