About Jeremy Leung
I am an eclectic, creative, and hardworking software engineer at Microsoft (j••••••••@microsoft.com). I knew I wanted to become a software engineer since the first intro CS class I took at CMU, since programming equipped me with tools to essentially create anything I wanted in the virtual world, and I ended up designing a simple first person shooter game that semester. Since then, I have constructed multiple projects and worked in several software development positions. These past experiences have made me very proficient in certain languages such as C#, Python, Go, SQL, and HTML/CSS/JS. My diverse background has also allowed me to build a working knowledge of other new languages and frameworks quickly like Django, React, and more. I place a heavy emphasis on writing clean and maintainable code as well, having participated in many extensive code reviews with my teams in Microsoft, Google and Mastercard Data & Services (formerly APT). At Microsoft, I am working on foundational resource provisioning for new cloud buildouts. At Google, I worked on a policy server using Go/SQL that gated Search feature launches based on latency metrics from experiment data, and at Mastercard, I worked on exciting projects with full stack development under the.NET framework, using React for frontend and C#/SQL Server for backend. While my skills mostly lie in software engineering, I have also taken a couple statistics and machine learning courses at CMU, hoping to explore more into that area. I am trilingual (English, Cantonese, Mandarin) as well, having grown up in the multicultural city of Hong Kong. I was the president of the CMU Pool Club and I have led several different initiatives such as reorganizing our internal processes and creating many new themed tournaments. I also love cooking and learning random skills like 3D modeling or table tennis. My creativity isn\'t just limited to the realm of software. I created a course on billiards from scratch and had led a team of 5+ instructors to teach over 30 students every semester from sophomore year until I graduated at CMU. I had also participated in multiple hackathons, creating fun projects with friends and new teammates. I also arranged and composed many songs for a quartet I led in high school, having been a proficient multi-instrumentalist (piano, cello, oboe, bass, percussion, drums), and still arrange pieces to play locally with musician friends. I am looking forward to meeting new people on LinkedIn and sharing my diverse experiences with them!
