Carnot Ltd is a technology start-up developing advanced thermally insulated engines with doubled efficiency and halved fuel use/CO2 emissions. This disruptive technology will revolutionise the industry and bring the internal combustion engine into the 21st century. Carnot Engines are the key to accelerating the transition to net zero emissions in the most difficult sectors to electrify - long-haul transport and off-grid power applications which account for 15% of global CO2 emissions.Environmental impact - Ultimately, Carnot engines will operate on biofuels/e-fuels (for net zero or net negative) and hydrogen/ammonia (for net zero carbon emissions) once the necessary infrastructure and sustainable mass production of fuels are in place. In order to facilitate the transition to net zero emissions, Carnot engines will also operate on all current fuels, halving CO2 emissions in the process.Social impact - operating on locally-produced biofuels, Carnot engines can be used in generators to provide clean, affordable and secure power to rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia for the 1.2 billion people, public services and local enterprises who are unable to afford or access existing solutions.Commercial benefits - Carnot engines will reduce the total cost of ownership by 35% allowing manufacturers and operators in these low-margin sectors to drive up margins.As Head of Business Development I am involved in company strategy, market positioning and all areas of commercial development of the company from marketing, fund raising through pipeline development and sales. I am also involved with writing/applying for and project managing the various funded projects which include a Clean Maritime Demonstration Completion (rounds 1, 2, 3 & 4), Eureka Eurostars, Energy Catalyst (Brokerage & round 9), and leading the companies perspective in the Natwest Accelerator Clean Transport Program.
