Experience
Director of Strategic Relationships
Sep 2009 — Present · Minneapolis, MN, US
Beginning in 2009 performing contract work connecting MCC to the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, I was moved into staff positions including Program Organizer, Communications Manager, Program Manager, Program and Communications Director, and now Director of Strategic Relationships. My work has included peacebuilding, social cohesion, civic engagement, public relations, developing leaders, board relations, donor relations, communications, external relations, advocacy and education campaigns on US foreign policy, environmental legislation, immigration and other concerns of Minnesota Council of Churches\' one million constituents.I run the Respectful Conversations Project, which has reached over Minnesotans with over 300 conversations about divisive issues, with 69% of participants reporting an increase in empathy for those with whom they disagree and participants reporting long-term results including better listening skills and transformed relationships. This project has earned over 50 mentions in local, state and national media outlets and the attention of multiple academic researchers for its positive impact on civic culture.Additionally, as the sole communications staff for MCC I curate and publish News for the Common Good, a bi-weekly e-newsletter for congregational decision-makers that reaches over 3,500 constituents.
