About Jens Axboe
Lead developer and maintainer of the Linux block IO subsystem for 2 decades Completely rewrote the core for the 2.5 kernel. Re-wrote stack again later to be true multi-queue aware- Author of io_uring IO architecture- Developed several different types of io schedulers. Implemented a modular API for these, complete with online on-the-fly switching- Long term ATAPI maintainer/developer- Written lots of code for various types of storage (ide, sata, scsi, etc), ranging from bug fixes to implementing new features (such as SATA NCQ)- Designed/implemented \'btrace\', a block io tracing application and kernel level support- Splice IO architecture for Linux- Author of the fio IO testing tool- Tons of other Linux kernel workSpecialties: Block IO core, IO, io schedulers, NVMe, SCSI, SATA, io schedulers, SSD, flash, scalability.
