About Jenny N.

Accessibility and inclusion are areas in which I am passionate about. Past experiences have allowed me the opportunity to understand various ideologies and perspectives presented and observed throughout community members around me. Going through the motions of life, I’ve been able to find a calling towards assisting others and providing clarity and support as they transition into different stages of their life. The most rewarding feeling is being able to quickly build rapport with clients to provide security and reassurance to see them grow. It feels relieving to care for others, in times where they feel most isolated. I feel the best when I am engaged with my community, and when I can contribute to my community. My previous job experience as a Behavior Technician at Building Essential Skills Together allowed me the opportunity to support clientele in building independence in daily and life skills, while encouraging the replacement of maladaptive behaviors to more appropriate. Additionally, I have past experience in individualized care as a Personal Care Attendant, in which I serviced a consumer who was eligible for elderly disability services. My undergraduate apprenticeship experience allowed for me to complete my Career Launch program, while conducting my job responsibilities as Campus Liaison at the University of Boston. As campus liaison,I provided campus tours to prospective and current students enrolled in the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative, which partners with multiple school districts to provides a pre-college experience to students with intellectual disabilities and autism. As campus liaison, I performed additional duties such as hosting office hours open for all students on Monday mornings, provided emotional assessments/briefing, encouraged independence to students, attended on-campus events with students, bridged connections between faculty, staff, and student, accessed need-based resources for students if necessary, and more. Recognizing various identities and amplifying their presence in our communities is very important to me. As a first generation graduate, my identity carries into my aspirations to this very day, and this is why I want to advocate for marginalized voices.I currently continue my days working in the Intensive Home Based Therapeutic Care team, servicing a caseload in contract with the Department of Mental Health and Department of Children & Families.
