ABOUT JENNY BASRAN

Dr. Jenny Basran is Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Quality and Digital Health at the Saskatchewan Health Authority, where she leads system-wide quality improvement, patient safety, digital innovation, advanced analytics, modelling and insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.A Royal College-certified physician in Internal and Geriatric Medicine and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Basran brings over 20 years of experience in clinical care, academics, health system leadership and quality improvement. Her work in Geriatric Medicine focuses on improving care for older adults through research and practice related to falls prevention, improving functional outcomes, managing multimorbidity, and expanding interprofessional care models. She has held leadership roles with the Canadian Geriatric Society and contributed to advancing quality standards and geriatric education.Dr. Basran’s interest in technology and analytic methods began with interdisciplinary research on wearable and sensor-based systems to assess and classify falls and near-falls among older adults, linking real-world data to clinical insight. She has since been engaged in health systems modelling and advanced analytics that inform quality improvement and policy. Alongside this work, she served as a core member of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) Health Technology Expert Review Panel, where she contributed expert guidance on evidence assessments to support technologies and system approaches. She continues to provide support for the recently published guidance on aging in place and alternate level of care.Her leadership and impact have been recognized with multiple honours, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to health and older adult care and the Saskatchewan Medical Association’s Physician of the Year Award.Bringing together clinical excellence, systems thinking, technology innovation and analytic insight, Dr. Basran is committed to advancing equitable, person-centred care and driving meaningful transformation across health systems.
