About Jennifer Galvin

Determined to drive societal progress and connect people with social and environmental challenges, Dr. Galvin combines three areas of deep expertise and accomplishment: science, media, and catalytic investment. She turns resources – both human energy and financial capital – into impact through idea deployment, analysis, networking and collaboration. Galvin, trained in epidemiology, exposure and risk assessment, is an environmental specialist whose investigations have contributed to a greater understanding of global health, particularly for coastal populations. As the founder of reelblue, LLC, she runs a multimedia company that serves as both think tank and studio, providing services to individuals, non-profit organizations, social enterprises and corporations. Galvin finds new ways to bring story into any project’s DNA. From print to documentary and fiction film, her work has been internationally recognized for connecting art and science, and inspiring social transformation. Galvin also leads a charitable foundation that deploys catalytic investments to improve the planet. As president of the Henry David Thoreau Foundation, she directs dollars to the next generation of environmental leaders through undergraduate scholarships and seed funds visionary institutional programs.Compared to a Swiss Army knife, she was honored in the 2014 GOOD 100, representing the vanguard of artists, activists, entrepreneurs, and innovators from over 35 countries making creative impact. She is a member of NY Women in Film & TV and ICAIC Muestra Itinerante de Cine del Caribe; serves on the advisory board of Moonjelly Foundation; and is on the board of directors of Rocking the Boat in the South Bronx, Goods That Matter in New Orleans, and the Rauch Foundation in Woodstock, VT. She served as an editorial board member for Storytellers for Good, advisor for the Social Innovation Fellowship, and as a mentor for Venture for America.
