   I help manage the nonprofit newsroom and lead content strategy. Before serving as assistant editor, I was an investigative reporter focused on San Diego County’s South Bay and Imperial County. I reported in-depth government accountability stories on some of the region’s most vulnerable communities.Highlights- Produced an investigative data project in collaboration with a national partner on stark racial disparities among San Diego school discipline records- Led the region’s earliest COVID-19 coverage of Imperial County’s health and economic inequities as it became one of the nation’s first pandemic hotspots- Uncovered management’s misuse of taxpayer-funded credit cards and other public funding at San Diego’s high-profile regional planning agency- Investigated the mental health conservatorship system in San Diego and Imperial counties under a 2022 California fellowship at the USC Center for Health Journalism.
